Maintaining & Testing Safety Cabinets
There is a statutory requirement to carry out testing and validation of microbiological safety cabinets. Performance tests are carried out to BS EN12469 and include HEPA filter integrity, airflow velocity and visualization tests, operation of airflow indicators & alarms and KI-Discus (aperture protection factor) tests. KI-Discus test can also be carried out to determine product protection and cross contamination levels.
What is involved?
- Commissioning, service and testing in accordance with BS EN12469
- HEPA filter supply, installation and certification/integrity testing
For all classes and makes of Microbiological Safety Cabinets, Clean Air Cabinets & Isolators
The KI-Discus test is required to be carried out on a 12 monthly routine basis to maintain acceptable performance. Cabinets located in ACDP containment level 3 laboratories should have the KI-Discus test carried out at six monthly intervals.
