Homerton Hospital
We have recently undertaken condition and critical airflow surveys in all bathroom and toilet areas of the hospital, based on extract ducted systems we were employed to ensure that the systems were in a suitable hygienic condition and if they were meeting the HTM 2025 requirement on airchange rates of 6-10 aca. After the initial survey and airflow test readings some ducted system were cleaned as they were found to be highly contaminated. An additional issue with MRSA prevention was also one of the requirements. At the end of the project reports detailing all works carried out were issued.
Lewisham NHS trust
(back to top menu)The trust recently awarded us with a contract to carry out scored and weighted risk assessment on all operating theatre plant and critical airflow testing. Working in conjunction with the estates department we were able to demonstrate if the theatres were performing to the HTM regulations and infection control specifications. We did find a problem with airchange rates and identified the area and increased the ac rates from 12aca to 25 aca by getting a fresh air inlet cleaned. Scheduled maintenance of these areas is required to ensure good conditions.
Wexham Park Hospital
The trust has recently opened a new theatre suite 12-14 months ago, we have recently completed a scored and weighted risk assessment of all plant and ducted systems along with critical air flow testing of the theatre environment.
Virgin Mobile
(back to top menu)Virgin mobile recently appointed us to oversee the hygienic cleaning of the ducted systems within a call centre. With the ductwork being cleaned by a specialist contract visits undertake by us ensure the cleaning was to the required standard and independently monitored, a verification report was issued to Virgin upon completion of the contract.
Mclaren
Occupation hygiene is important in the industrial market place, and in the hi tech environment formula 1 we were pleased to able to help Mclaren monitor for toxic substances and ensure they were not exposing there technicians to anything above any OEL.
Kings College Hospital
(back to top menu)Artic Building services have involved our services at a major London hospital, we monitored and policed the hygienic cleaning of all main theatre plant and associated ducted system serving 10 operating theatres. Critical airflow testing and differential pressure testing was also performed to ensure that the theatres performance was within the HTM 2025 regulations, carried out over a 4 week period electronic reports with photographic evidence and test reports on the airflows were submitted within 48 hours of the work being carried out.
WWW Success
After the launch of our web site www.airisq.co.uk we have had success in generating business from this area, generally used by clients for researching ventilation hygiene we have gained notable business from this. The most recent from Great Ormond St Hospital who wanted a fully independent consultancy to validate newly installed ducted system using the VT method as stated in TR17 and the newly published TR19. Main clearing bank site
AirisQ Limited has recently completed a full survey of the ducted systems at a major cheque-clearing centre in London. One of the areas inspected was the fresh air intakes to 12 air handling units. This system had never been inspected before and was 30 years old. The detailed scored and weighted risk assessment showed that they were internally lined with man made mineral fibre (MMMF), pictorial evidence and laboratory sample analysis confirmed this. As part of AirisQ's unique independent service, a tender and total project management service was provided to our client for the removal of the damaged insulation and replacement with new. The stripping-out and replacement programme covered an 8-week period, AirisQ providing all works verification and contractor management of the project. At the end of the contract AirisQ's client was very pleased that a hazard had been removed in a professional manner and that the new insulation ensured that clean and healthy air was now entering the 12-supply air-handling units.
The air we breathe is very important, so to ensure that your systems are clean and free of any contamination which may pollute this air - get a survey and risk assessment done now!
AirisQ scored and weighted risk assessments detail each section of plant and associated ducted systems, with the unique scoring systems provided only areas that achieve high scores would require remedial works.
NHS Hospitals
Two London hospitals have recently awarded critical airflow testing contracts for all negative and positive pressure environments to AirisQ Limited. The purpose of the testing is to ensure those critical areas such as theatres; examination rooms and isolation wards have the correct operational pressure, with adequate airflows. In the case of most examination rooms, negative pressure is required to prevent illness such as TB spreading through the hospital. Operating theatres require positive pressure to prevent any contaminates from entering the areas were open wounds are present, giving the increased risk for infection to set in. AirisQ are monitoring these on a six monthly basis. A full validation report for each area and airflow rate assessments from each grille forms part of the report issued at the time of the visit. This work provides compliance with HTM 2025 (the standard at time of work - now superceded by HTM 03-01).
Wash up extracts
AirisQ have recently carried out a scored and weighted risk assessment of a dishwasher extract system on a site in central London, the system was 25 years old and had never been cleaned or inspected before. The amount of grease present was staggering and due to the added problem of corrosion, AirisQ recommended that a complete new duct section be manufactured using stainless steel with adequate inspection doors for future use.
These types of extract system are a potential fire hazard; when was the last time yours was inspected?
